Elsebeth 'Beth' Fellman, half elf with an elven mother and human father.
Her mother Lady Tashiba Volnhall, a wood elf, As part of a fighting elven force sent to support the forces from Daggerford in a battle/war She fell in love with a human Soldier Brody Fellman. She returned from war pregnant with Beth.
Beth's early years were spent among the elves, she was always seen as different and her mother was distant, it was clear that she was unwonted by the other elves, although her mother did try to protect her and show love in her distant way, it was not a warm and comforting early life. Lady Tashiba upon returning from war had to take on her family's traditional political role which kept her away from Beth for long periods. As Beth reached 12 years it was clear that she would not be able to stay with the elves, she made the other families nervous. the decision was made for Beth to travel to live with with her father. This was terrifying for Beth, she had only met her father briefly twice before.
However, her father was loving and caring in his own kind of gruff way. He was a sworn man to the duke in Daggerford, and was well respected within the Dukes court and staff and Beth benefitted from most of the staff looking out for her. Brody took time to teach her some basic weapons skills in particular the quarterstaff and shortsword. And these are some of her fond memories, sparring with her father. He was patient and caring with her and she remembers a lot of laughter as well as hard work.
A regular visitor in her life was the bard Justin Credible. She was mesmerised by his show, he was flamboyant and colourful and like a whirlwind of rainbow colour in her life. She begged him to teach her the lute and it was quickly apparent that she had some skill. He took her under his wing and began to teach her music and minor magics, mainly illusions to enhance performances but she realised how much she enjoyed using magic so wants to explore this a bit further.
As she became a young adult she left daggerford to make her own way in life, she did not want to stay in the ducal court, but wanted to explore the world. She took her time travelling to waterdeep, playing in inns and taverns along the road until arriving in the city. She managed to find rooms to share with another two young female bards in the city. She is the youngest of these three and very clearly the most naive and innocent.
Shortly after arriving in the city she has an audition to be a backing performer for Roger, she had heard of him before arriving in the city, but had not seen him perform. During the audition was hit with the full force of his personality and fell head over heels in love. In part this was because he clearly spotted her song writing talent and turned on that smarmy, white man in power, charm. This began a very one sided relationship that Beth can not see as being problematic. He gas lights her and uses her, always hinting at the potential for more, but never actually taking it any further. She fawns over him and thinks if she just tries harder he will eventually ask her out. He also promises to further her bard career, but it is clear to everyone else that he has been holding her back as she is clearly more talented than him. He will get her to write songs or rewrite his songs and then will take all the credit, Beth is naive enough to think this is how it happens.
Beth is quiet tomboyish in appearance, with shortish, chin length ginger hair and green eyes. She is pale skinned with freckles across her nose. She often wears browns and greens, but has been exploring more flamboyant colours as she grows as a Bard. she is a bit socially awkward and oblivious to others maybe flirting with her. She does not fully grasp the idea of using sex appeal in her performance, focusing more on music and the playing. She has a strong sense of fairness and does not fully appreciate the grey areas that exist between good and evil. She enjoys her beer and ale (thanks to her father!) She has given up on faith, thinking that the gods don't care for her, so she doesn't much care for them.
She tends to avoid elvish things, believing that they have turned their backs on her. she has a distrust of them, feeling they are all the same as the bullys and uncaring elves she lived with as a child.
